Register with SSWD
Students wishing to receive services must register with the SSWD office. Contact us to set up an appointment with a SSWD staff person, or stop by our office during business hours to register. Students may also be referred to our office by community agency personnel, U-M faculty and staff, high school counselors, health care professionals, family members, and others.
Students registered with SSWD receive many benefits that can greatly enhance the academic experience. Here is a small sampling of the services SSWD provides to its students:
- Registered students are assigned a Coordinator of Services to help them arrange many helpful accommodations.
- For students who are registered with SSWD and qualify for note-taking assistance, SSWD provides photocopying of other student's notes, NCR (no carbon required) paper for taking notes, and Grade-A-Notes transcripts of lectures, when they are available. These services are free of charge, as are all services offered by SSWD.
- The SSWD office has a limited supply of small equipment, e.g., Franklin Spelling Aces, laptop computers, that students who are registered with our office can borrow on a short term basis.
