I'm not a gourmet cook,...but I do have some favorite recipes that can trick people into thinking that I might be! Some of these recipes have been passed down through my family; some I have gotten from cooking websites (allrecipes.com is my favorite) or friends outside the family, and some I have created on my own. Click on any main heading to the left to open a page with those recipes. Here's the granddaddy of all family recipes: The Sundholm Limpa Rye Bread (ryggbrőd)
1 quart buttermilk Heat above ingredients to lukewarm. Melt brown sugar with a little water if too lumpy.
Add: Knead flour into dough a cup or two at a time, alternating between rye and white. Let it rise, then knead it again. Repeat (unless you're short on time). Form into four loaves. Poke the tops of the loaves with a fork. Let rise again, and finally, flip over each loaf onto the baking pan. Poke tops with a fork again. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool thoroughly. Serve with butter, margarine, or Cheez-Whiz style cheese spread. |
