Michigan State Fair

Almost every year, we go to the Michigan State Fair (8-Mile & Woodward).  Some of our favorite things to do are:

Dairy Day - Free chocolate milk!  Sometimes they charge a quarter for a bottomless cup.

Ladder Game - Derek's a master.  We've never seen anyone but Derek and the guy who runs the game climb all the way to the top.

Pool table game - Break and run four balls, and you win a stuffed animal.  We've gotten kicked off of this game a number of times.

Feed the barnyard critters (the goats are Betz's favorite; their mouths are precisely the right shape for nibbling).

Fair Food!  Exorbitantly priced lemon water, deep-fried (fill in the blank), vast selection of food items on a stick, and (pick an item) drenched in cheese!  Hey, why haven't I ever taken a picture of the fair food?  And would we be able to afford it if Angela didn't slave away all week to get us free gate passes?

Preparing for the Fair:  last year they charged a buck for a tiny bag of carrots!  This year, we brought our own.

Our annual State

Guaranteed prize...or maybe not!  They made the pool game WAY harder this year!  We still won, but it took us each at least two tries.     Derek eventually won the biggest prize you can win at the pool game:  a "Playa" Scooby with some scrilla and a shirt that says "Bling Bling."  We gave it to a little kid on the way out.

A Care Bear for Katie-Bear! No more ladder game, but Derek may have found his new passion:  knocking down steel-bottomed milk bottles.

Wilmer is our Spiderman! Wilmer eyes the wall as the dumb girl working the ride tries to fondle him... Off to a clean start.... passing others....

El Conquistador! Take that, dumb girl!

  Betz & the goats
(They weren't really digging the carrots this year; I had to later part from the gang and go feed the remaining bags to some Shetland ponies--the only critters in the barn that were still awake--who were duly appreciative).

Summer 2003:

This has become a tradition:  me winning a prize for Niamh at the pool game.  I now call her "my bitch."   She thinks my tractor's Sexy!

Angela had this photo enlarged and gave us each a copy!

Slippery tongue!   I heart goats.

Summer 2000:

An apple a day keeps the boys away! Derek the cornpone roofer Hmmmm....

More sexy tractorness.    There is only one thing that could make this more perfect:  if it was a John Deere!

Quit fondling my boyfriend! He fears no rock Derek made it to the top, and later they claimed they didn't hear the buzzer.  Do you see a trend here???
