Slide 3 - Toluene Formation Observed From Coadsorbed Thiols
The Ni(111) crystal was exposed to a saturation dosage of methanethiol, followed by an equivalent dosage of benzenethiol. Methane benzene and hydrogen are the primary products. A small but significant amount of toluene is also observed in the same temperature range as the hydrogenolysis products.
