Our Mission

Swing Ann Arbor is a University of Michigan student organization whose purpose is to provide the University community and Southeast Michigan with high-quality swing dance instruction and weekly dances. Beginner lessons and all dances are open to everyone regardless of experience or affiliation. You never need a partner to attend any lesson or dance!

We are a swing dancing community that is welcoming to and accepting of everyone who wants to dance, encourages and facilitates learning and personal improvement among dancers, and promotes the dance and dance related events around town.

See the Classes page for a description of current and upcoming classes as well as an overview of how the lessons work and a description of the dance styles we teach.

Schedule of Events

We hold weekly lessons and open dancing on Wednesday nights in the Michigan Union (unless otherwise specified.) We are usually in the Pendleton Room (2nd floor); sometimes in the Ballroom (2nd floor) or the U-Club (1st floor).

The cost is $4 for students (with current ID from any school) and $5 for non-students, with a $1 discount for members. This covers open dancing and drop-in lessons. See the Classes page for our extremely affordable progressive classes.

Interested in free admission to Wednesday night dances? Sign up to volunteer on the volunteer schedule or at the front desk at any Wednesday night lesson or dance. Volunteers get in free the night they volunteer.
