Our friends at the Ann Arbor Swing Dance Association (AASDA) sponsor this weekly dance. You can expect to hear a wide variety of music at this event, from the Big Band music of the early swing era to the Motown of Detroit's heyday. If you stay for their late night, you can also expect to hear some bluesy tunes.
Phil Ogilvie's Rhythm Kings (P.O.R.K.)
Time: Sundays 5:00-8:00pm
Location: Zal Gaz Grotto, 2070 W. Stadium Blvd.
Our beloved P.O.R.K. plays jazz and hot dance music from the days when the big band was being invented by the likes of King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson and other giants.
Paul Klinger's Easy Street Jazz Band
Time: Tuesdays 5:30-8:30pm
Location: Zal Gaz Grotto, 2070 W. Stadium Blvd.
Dixieland music from this popular, long-running Ann Arbor jazz band. Expect tunes by Jelly Roll Morton, Scott Joplin, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael and more.
