Opportunities include such Activities as:
- Monthly Member Meetings featuring a theme or hot topic in
current education trends such as:
- classroom management
- cooperative learning groups
- the "A-Typical Learner"
- realities of teaching
- parent communication
- conflict resolution
- using community resources
- job searching, portfolios, & resume writing
- The Fall Conference is a one-day "workshop & panel discussion"
program, which brings teacher-leaders and specialists to U-M to help
students
expand their outlook and understanding of the education profession.
- Community Service Projects include working on events such as
Literacy Alive!, MLK Day, Partnership with Kaiser
Elementary, Celebration of Teaching (COT), and Skelementary.
- A Crash Course in Interviewing is when area administrators
come to the
School
of Ed to help University students improve their interviewing skills through
structured practice sessions. In preparation for this day of
interviews, the chapter is offering a set of preparatory workshops during
the week prior to the event day.
- Publications, which include award winning issues from the
International Society, The New Teacher Advocate, The Educational Forum,
and the Kappa Delta Pi Record, and of course, our own Chapter
newsletter
