Getting Involved in the Tau Epsilon Chapter is quite simple. Just browse through this website and see what all we have to offer in the way of professional development, community service projects, and fundraising events to help with our chapter sponsored scholarships, grants, and projects. Then get in touch with the chairperson for the event or project you are interested in joining, and she or he will get the necessary information to you as soon as possible. We encourage all of our members to partake in as much as their schedules allow. We know you're busy -- but we like to see you! We also provide some of the opportunities for non-members. Please check with the chairperson to see where you can fit in, too. Click here to go to the Projects Homepage Let's say you look through the list of the events & activities and realize that some, or even most of them, conflict with your class schedule, work schedule, and/or family obligations. Not to panic - if you look in the section below that applies to your current status, you'll find some options that may be of help to you and still make you feel like you are involved in the chapter. The options are specifically tailored to the circumstances our members face as they are Undergraduate students, MAC students, Graduate students, Alumni, or Community Professionals. |
Distinguished Membership is a special program within our Chapter. It is a program designed to recognize the significant contributions of our chapter members during their time as a student here at U-M. Recently we've enhanced the program to also recognize the contributions of our alumni and professional members. Below is a basic description of the program. To see specifics for your current situation follow the link to your type of membership page. --every event and project sponsored by the chapter has a certain point value for participation --these points vary in degree according to four main categories attending/speaking at member meetings, helping with fundraisers, completing community services, and participating in professional development --earning enough points by the time of graduation will guarantee the student member the right to wear KDP honor cords during the SOE ceremony (the purple and green cords are designated as "Distinguished Member of Kappa Delta Pi" in the graduation program booklet) --earning enough points by the specified deadline will guarantee the alumni and professional member priority and preference for grant money allocation -- Points Rationale |
Benefits for Kappa Delta Pi members range from supportive publications and resources for your profession to commercial discounts for your personal needs. These benefits come from our international headquarters as long as you continue to pay your annual dues, remembering that the benefits far outweigh the cost of the dues. Renewing your local dues ensures that you continue to receive benefits from the chapter that range from resources & information to recognition to support (both professionally and financially).
