Speaker's Biographies:

Brad van Guilder has been a community organizer with the Ecology Center in Ann Arbor since 2001.  He has worked directly with residents in "fence-line" communities to improve public participation in decision-making and provide resources to represent residents' interests in public health and safety.  He is currently a member of the steering committee of Campaign for State Action on Environmental Justice.  He supports environmental justice as an essential component of the triple bottom line of the Sustainable Business model.  Dr. van Guilder completed a Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Michigan in 1993.  Throughout his teaching career as a graduate student, lecturer and professor he has emphasized the need for integrating ethics into basic science education.  In 1998 he left academy to become a nonprofit advocacy organizer.  He has worked in the peace, labor and environment movements.
