Sean Armstrong

Graduate Student, University of Michigan School of Public Health

Sean Armstrong is a second year student at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health pursuing a Masters in Public Health within the Health Behavior and Health Education department. As an archaeologist trained and educated at the University of Michigan, he first developed a passion for health while working and living in Mongolia, where health has declined since the transition to a capitalist economy. He has since earned his Bachelors in Nursing and worked for two years in a Cancer Center. His studies in public health are focused on addressing the many challenges former socialist states find themselves confronting as they attempt to repair their often rapidly changing societies. This past summer he worked with the Ministry of Health in an attempt to increase community participation in rural primary care initiatives.  He will return to rural Mongolia this summer to develop a community-based partnership focused on improving nutrition through increasing access to markets for locally produced goods.
