ELECTRONIC PRESENTATION MATERIALS
In order to present a “Green Retreat,” UEP will
follow the example set by cutting-edge meeting presenters in
the hospitality industry:
1. We will minimize the amount of conference materials
produced for the Retreat. Attendees will receive a
reusable tote bag (instead of a binder). You also will receive
a printed Schedule-at-a-Glance, an Attendee Roster, and information
on our Sponsors, Exhibitors, and Committee. We will also make
available a limited amount of blank paper for those who wish
to take notes.
2. We will offer electronic presentation materials online
instead of printed handouts of speakers’ presentations.
These will be available on May 29th, downloadable via a web
link that will be emailed only to Retreat participants.
3. We will email an electronic survey to each attendee
after the Retreat instead of distributing paper evaluations.
We will make every effort to obtain and post presentation materials
prior to the Retreat. In the event that presentation materials
are submitted late, our web link will be updated to include
the additional materials within two weeks after the Retreat.
The availability of materials is contingent on presenters submitting
them to us.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US IN OUR GREEN EFFORTS!
Efforts by UEP for a “Green”
Retreat:
- Printing necessary handouts on recycled paper with
soy-based ink, double-sided when possible
- Asking attendees to carpool to the Retreat, and
providing a bus for attendees
- Asking for recycling bins in each meeting room (Genoa
Woods will provide special recycling containers for
plastic and paper products)
- Collecting plastic name badge holders and lanyards
for reuse
- Using erasable, durable white boards instead of
disposable signage
- Offering a few sheets of paper instead of providing
note pads for each attendee
- Archiving presentations online for later access
instead of printing them
- Offer electronic presentation materials online
instead of printed handouts
- Email an electronic survey after the Retreat instead
of paper evaluations
Efforts by Four
Points by Sheraton, Ann Arbor for a “Green”
Retreat:
- We are 100% smoke free
- We have reduced our waste by 50% by recycling
newspapers, water bottles, glass, metal cans and
boxes.
- We have recycle bins in each hallway providing
our guests the chance to participate in our recycle
program.
- We offer our guests the opportunity to reuse
their towels and sheets during a multiple night
stay. We are happy to change daily or let you
reuse. It’s your choice!
- We dial down the temperature in rooms that
are not going to be used.
- We have adopted the policy of “If it
is not in use turn it off”
- Meeting & banquet functions are offered
a table with water and glasses instead of putting
them at each seat. In addition, we also offer
all meeting and conference attendees a station
with paper and pens for those that need them.
- We now use a minivan for around town transportation.
The full size van is only used when we have more
than 6 guests being transported at the same time.
