The former Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule ( ADOS: Lord, Rutter, Goode, 1989) and Pre-Linguistic Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule ( PL-ADOS: DiLavore, Lord, & Rutter, 1995) have now been combined into one single instrument, which is called the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) (see Lord et al, 2000 in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders) published by Western Psychological Services (WPS). Because of the existence of the new instrument, we are no longer distributing the older forms.
Use of photocopies, adaptations, translations or other variations is expressly prohibited unless explicit permission is granted by WPS. Researchers are eligible to purchase materials at a discount and there is a discount for materials purchased for use in university-based training programs. These rules are applicable outside as well as within the United States. Please contact WPS directly for further information.
We will be offering several brief two-day ADOS workshops as an introduction to the measure. This type of workshop will not involve small groups, practice, or reliability. It is intended for clinicians interested in an introduction to the ADOS and for researchers as the first step in the process. It will be a large group lecture and demonstration format. If you are interested in attending an ADOS training session, please contact WPS. For clinical training at other sites, see the list of names and contact information of the workshop leaders.
If you want to use the measure for research purposes you must establish your reliability on the measure. Researchers can start this process by attending a two-day clinical workshop and then contacting us about additional training and reliability, or by attending a 5-day workshop in the United Kingdom. Another way to begin would be to contact an independent workshop leader directly and make arrangements to receive training and achieve reliability. Please see the list of names and contact information of workshop leaders in the United Kingdom and the United States.
