One question I had when I learned of this initiative was "Why bridges?" Although in this country traveling in cars on federally funded highways, roads, and bridges is an everyday occurrence, rural community members in developing countries, such as the people of the Palca region, live in a walking world. Most of us would agree that our transportation infrastructure system is vital to economic success as well as to our quality of life. The B2P organization has quantified how bridges improve people's lives:
• 12% increase in childhood enrollment in school
• 24% increase in healthcare treatment
• 18% increase in the number of women who are employed
• 15% increase in local business

FUNDRAISING GOAL
Our group's goal is to raise $27,000 which will cover the cost of bridge materials and most of the travel costs of the students traveling to Bolivia to do the actual construction. Although this is an aggressive fundraising goal, any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated.
