WebDAV for Mac (10.0-10.3) Directions

Finding the siteID

The siteID is the unique identifier for your site used by CTools. You need to know the Site ID because it will be part of the address you will need to connect via WebDAV. Each site must be set up as a separate WebDAV connection, so the first time you connect to a given site, you will need to follow the directions below.

1... Click on Resources in the menubar (if resources is not already open).

2... Click the link Upload-Download Multiple Resources

3...Scroll down to the section "Your SiteID." You will see your siteID.

WEBDAV FOR MAC (OS 10.0-10.3)

Note 1: These instructions include the download of a program named Goliath. Users have reported errors using this program with CTools, including not being able to create new folders or download folders to their home computer.

Note 2: You must put at least one resource or one folder into the class OR project resource area before you set up WebDAV.

1... Download the Goliath WebDav client at:
http://www.webdav.org/goliath/#download

2... Decompress the file and double-click on the .dmg file. (Depending on your version and configuration of Stuffit, the disk image may automatically mount.)

3... A disk image named "Goliath 1.0" should now be available. Simply drag and drop the Goliath folder contained within in the disk image to your hard disk.

4... Open the Goliath application. It will probably be in your Applications folder.

5... In the WebDav Connection dialog box, type in the path:

https://ctools.umich.edu/dav/group/<siteid>

...where <siteid> is the site id* of the class or group you want to access. (See the section, "Finding the siteID," above.)

OR

https://ctools.umich.edu/dav/user/uniqname

...where "uniqname" is your uniqname if you want to add access to resources in your My Workspace area.

6... Type in your uniqname and password.

7... Click the Advance settings tab and check the box next to "Disable Encoding of Macintosh Recourse."

8... Click "OK"

9... You will now see a window on your Mac screen that represents the resources are in your CTools site. You can now drag and drop files into this window or use the "Web" menu to upload and download files.

Note: Users have reported errors using Goliath with CTools, including not being able to create new folders or download folders to their home computer.
