The Environmental Justice Group

Of the University of Michigan

The Environmental Justice Group is a multicultural, multidisciplinary student group dedicated to promoting environmental justice for all communities affected disproportionately with environmental burdens, especially those communities of color and low-income communities. We seek to educate ourselves, our peers, and the community at large on issues of environmental justice and racism. We believe that all communities regardless of their social and economic conditions have the right to a clean and healthy environment for themselves and their children. We intend to act as a resource for communities and students empowering themselves to address environmental injustices.

The Environmental Justice Group (EJG) has regularly scheduled weekly meetings where students can announce important events related to environemtnal and social justice, brainstorm and organize projects, present their research and work on environmental justice issues, and exhcnage ideas and resources related to environmental justice. Further, the EJG frequently organizes special events including guest speakers and facilityated discussions on environmental justice and issues of related topics. We welcome anyone who wishes to be involved or informed, regardless of knowldege of or experience with environmental justice issues.
