Environmental Justice
is the belief that all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, or
economic standing, deserve to live, work, and play in a healthy environment.
Who are the Environmental Justice Group @ the University of Michigan?
The Environmental Justice Group at the University of Michigan is a multi-cultural, multidisciplinary student group dedicated to
promoting environmental justice for all communities affected disproportionately with environmental burdens, particularly
low-income communities and communities of color. We seek to educate ourselves, our peers, and the community at large on
issues of environmental justice. We believe that all individuals and communities, regardless or their social and economic
conditions, have the right to a clean and healthy environment for themselves and their children. The Environmental Justice Group
supports communities empowering themselves to exercise these rights.
