Lessons and Practices
Group and private lessons can be scheduled with our coach, Jennifer Blades, at Willowbrooke Farm in Plymouth, MI. All team members who intend to jump at shows must be taking at least 1 weekly lesson with Jennifer or Jenny (in addition to attending all practices). It is strongly suggested that all flat riders take lessons as well. Separate jumping and flatwork practices are scheduled on Wednesdays at 8:00pm and are required for all showing members. Only riders eligible to jump in the IHSA (Novice level and above) may attend jump practice, though all riders may not jump a full course. (Please note that riders taking regular lessons will have the opportunity to jump during lesson time.) Every effort is made to get all riders into a weekly carpool out to the barn; team members will be placed in a lesson after tryouts based on skill level, availability, and driver/coach availability.

Lesson prices are as follows:

Group Lesson (1 hour) - $35

Private Lesson (1/2-hour) - $45

While we understand that taking lessons each week is costly, the more team members are able to get out the barn and ride, the better prepared they are to perform well at our shows. The team members selected to go to the shows are based on effort, practice attendance, lessons, and team events. Every effort is made to get everyone into a carpool based on availability and skill level. Lessons are available most days of the week.

Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to attend your lesson for the week, you must to call the barn and leave a message 24 hours in advance or you will be responsible for the cost of your lesson. If you miss 2 lessons in a row without a valid reason, you will be dropped from the lesson; there is a large waiting list for lessons and we are lucky to be able to have so much space allotted for us. Also, you must call your driver and let them know if you will be missing a lesson.
