The ant is consistently a symbol of diligence and industriousness. In Indian myth,
however, they show the fragility of all living creatures. Often the ant is also
associated with prudence and forethought, as even though they are not strong they
gather food for winter. The multiplicity surrounding ants gives it unfavorable
symbolism, sometimes compared with swarming humanity, and a sudden great increase
in ants can spell war.
