Temple

The temple is most often a place of worship; it is also a microcosm, the earthly counterpart of HEAVEN. On EARTH, divinity is considered to dwell within the temple walls, as they structurally represent the religious relationship between men and the deities they worship. "The DARKNESS inside the temple signifies man's need of LIGHT from outside himself, and that the temple is lit by the divinity" (Cooper, 170).
