  • Hello gym fans,

We are now in the final stretch of our season and everybody is excited! The girls, coaches, and trainers have been working hard all year long, and we’re all ready to top off the season with a great showing at NCAAs! The team leaves for Athens this coming Tuesday and will compete in the first round of team competition on Thursday with Stanford, Georgia, UCLA, Utah, and Denver. We are all eager to go out and have some fun, confident in the fact that we will be competing in the Super Six on Friday.

Before heading down south the team has some fun activities planned right here in Ann Arbor. After practice on Sunday we are all having brunch together at the Gandy Dancer. It will be a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and for some, a way to unwind after challenging finals.

Until next time, happy spring and go blue!

  • Hello gym fans!

We had our first weekend off all season long. I took advantage of that and jumped on a flight home to Miami. I got to see my coaches and friends, and the 95-degree weather was a nice touch as well.

This weekend, as most of you know, we are going to Oregon State for Regionals. Despite the long flight (I’m pretty sick of airplanes J) I really like Corvallis. It is a cute little town and we had so much fun there my freshman year at Nationals. The weather was so nice when we went last; Lbo, Liebs, Megan, Huneth, and myself feel asleep lying down on park benches the morning of event finals. I have photo documentation of half of the Michigan Gymnastics team asleep outside, that’s what a long season will do to you!

I feel very confident going into Oregon State and dare I say it, NCAA’s. It has been such an honor to be on such a talented and dedicated team. All I can say is that it has been a great year except for all my injuries. On that note, I want to give everyone a piece of advice, never go to sleep angry! You could wake up driving your hand into the mattress and wake up unable to move your wrist, it’s no fun! Also, make sure you check the multimedia link on mgoblue.com for interviews about Big Tens, Regionals, and NCAA’s, Hopefully you like them because I’m the reporter, haha, let me know what you think!

Wish us luck this weekend and GO BLUE!!

  • Hey everybody!!!
What an exciting season so far! I hope all of you are enjoying as much as I am, though it is going by way too fast. I don’t know how many of you were there to see our amazing victory over the #1 team in the country by over six-tenths, but it was a fun one. Georgia has also been the national champions the past three years so this was a huge victory and confidence booster for the whole team. We posted our highest team score so far this season and it ranks among the top ten ever in Michigan women’s gymnastics!! The team chemistry is just amazing this year and I believe that has been a major contributor to our success. There have been a few injuries along the way, but there is so much depth this year that we have no problem filling in the missing spot. I hope that all of you will be able to make the next home meet, which is also the last regular season meet on Saturday at 6pm where we will take on the #3 Utah Utes. I hope all is well! Take Care!!!

  • Hello everyone!

We just got back from competing in Maryland, which was not our best meet of the season, but it was a good time to work out some of the kinks. We were able to welcome some returning faces into the the lineup, as we were trying to rest some people in preparation for the post season. We are only one meet away from post season! It should be alot of fun because we go against #2 Utah. However, on the other hand it will be an emotional meet as we say goodbye to 5 members of our family, the seniors. Although we are hosting Big Ten's, it is still their last home meet of the regular season. They are a bunch of amazing people and we will miss them so much and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours. Otherwise, everyone is doing well and we are all excited for spring to come everytime we see the sun! Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Hope to see you all on Saturday! GO BLUE!

  • So this weekend we are all pumped to head out to Missouri and hopefully get another great away score! But before we leave on Thursday, the team and I get to have manicures and pedicures as a reward for our great grades first semester! The manicures and pedicures are going to be a great way to relax and spend time together before we have to fly out. This whole week has also been very relaxing, as well, because it is our spring break. Other than doing homework, I have been enjoying my time by going to the show, spending time with friends, and catching up on the much needed sleep! Traveling so often has made this semester fly by so far. It is amazing to me that we are already done with half of our season!!! Even though traveling and competing every weekend can be tiring, it is so exciting and fun! I love that I have gotten to know my teammates even more since the season began. This season is flying by fast, and each week it is obvious that the team’s motivation and belief in our abilities grow stronger and stronger!

  • Hello Michigan Fans!
Wow, time has flown and we’re more than half way through the season! This week is our spring break so we’re all pretty excited about not having classes. Our practices have been a bit earlier in the day, which is nice because we’ve planned some relaxing movie nights together for the past couple of days. We leave Thursday for another away meet, this time at Missouri. It’s so exciting to be on the road with this great bunch of girls. We always have some funny laughs on the plane, or especially when we get asked if we’re the basketball team. I like to tell them that I’m the starting forward, given the fact that I’m the shortest. Also, people tend to buy the latest gossip magazines, so of course we take turns catching up on the latest info about Angelina, Britney, etc. Being in the hotels is also a blast. We’re such a big group that we tend to take over the floor that we’re on, and there’s not really a time when you can’t hear laughing coming from someone’s room. It’s nice that all of us get along so well because no matter whom we get roomed with we’re guaranteed to have a good time! We’re back home next weekend against #1 Georgia, which should be an exciting meet! I hope to see everyone there and GO BLUE!

  • Hello Everyone,
Let me just say wow what an exciting season so far. It has been amazing to be able to be apart of such an incredible team this year. I can’t believe we are already half way done. The time is just flying by. We just got back from NC State. It was a great meet and we finally got a 197. Everyone’s been working so hard and was really pumped up when we heard the team score.

We started off on bars. The scores were a little lower but we didn’t let that stop us. I think it actually fired up the team even more and with every rotation we just got better and better. It was good to see that the team had each other’s back throughout the entire meet. That is the great thing about college gymnastics, the team is always there for you. Plus, we finally had the beam score that we have been practicing in the gym. I know we all are excited to just keep getting better and better at the meets and really show everyone what this team is made of.

This week is our spring break so we get to enjoy some time off from classes. We head to Missouri next weekend and then we are back in Ann Arbor for the Georgia meet. I hope you all can come out and support us. It is going to be an exciting competition.

    GO BLUE!!!!

  • Hello Michigan Gymnastics Fans!

This year has been so amazing that I can’t believe we are already 1/3 of the way through season. We just got back from Nebraska, and we had yet another great meet. It was odd competing on a Thursday night for us, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. It was Nebraska’s “Think Pink” meet so both teams wore pink.

Everyone is training hard and staying focused on our goal. We are all just trying to take it one meet at a time. Our next meet is our Pink meet against Minnesota so we hope to see you all there. We love competing in front of our own crowd, but I want to give a shout out to all the fans that have been traveling with us and cheering loud! You are the best and we really appreciate it (True Blue Tom ;)

    Thanks, and Go Blue!

  • Hi Everyone!

We are just getting back into the swing of things after our weekend at Penn State...it was our first meet on the road this year and it was a blast...well except for our 4:15 a.m. wake up on Sunday.
We had a great vibe going into the meet because it brought back so many memories from Big 10's last year! Not only did we have a lot of support from friends and family, but the Michigan woman's basketball team was also there. They had to play on Sunday so when they flew in Saturday night they came straight to the arena to watch us...it was great to see them in the stands!
All of us are very excited to watch the meet on the Big 10 network. Although we had to count 2 falls, I think we looked very strong out there! We are all working so hard in the gym and I think it is really paying off. It is a great feeling to know that we have so much depth! And boy does it feel nice to be one of the competitors this year!

Hope everyone can come out to Crisler on Saturday to watch us compete against Michigan State...Go Blue!

  • Hey Everyone!!

I hope you all enjoyed out first meet at Crisler Arena on Friday night!! It was a blast to be back out on the floor competing and to watch the freshmen compete for Michigan for the first time. They did an amazing job!! It is exciting to have all of those who were injured last year back with us again too!! Thanks to all of you who came out… you are amazing fans!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday break. I was able to go home for a couple of days and spend some time with my large family. Upon my arrival at home I was assigned to bake cookie, which comes as no surprise to my teammates as they know I love to bake.

We came back to campus for practice on the 27th and had our team Christmas party on New Years Eve at Bev’s house. We had a great dinner and exchanged gifts. We were also able to play Whirly Ball as a team activity which was a lot of fun. School is back into full swing now and we were spoiled last week with the beautiful weather. Friday we travel to Penn State to compete on Saturday… back to the place we won Big Tens last year!! The following Saturday we will be back at Crisler Arena and I hope to see many of you there!! Until then, take care and GO BLUE!!

  • Seasons Greetings!

I hope that everyone has been having a wonderful holiday season thus far…the women’s gymnastics team certainly has! As Kylee said, we just had our intrasquad which was a huge success. The crowd did a wonderful job of cheering and made us all excited for the season to begin! As those of you who attended saw, our gymnastics is looking great and the team is all fired up for an awesome year!

Finals are underway now and everyone has been hitting the books hard and acing their exams (would you expect anything less from such an amazing group of girls?!). After finals end the team will definitely be ready for a little R and R time at home. When practice ends on the 19th we will be able to head home, wherever that may be, and spend a week with our families for the holiday. Some of the girls are already getting into the Christmas spirit! Kylee and Tach made a cute little gingerbread house, Jackie broke away from tradition and made a gingerbread train, and Jordan put that rotten banana from her room to good use by making banana bread! (Sorry Jo, I couldn’t help myself)

We will return from our break well rested and ready to strut our stuff at our in gym intrasquad on January 4th and at our season opener on the 11th. I hope you all can make it to both and help cheer blue on to victory!

Happy Holidays from the UM gymnastics team and GO BLUE!

  • Hey everyone!
So we just had the intrasquad on Friday night, and boy was it a blast! That was my first time competing in Crisler and I'll never forget it! I can't wait for the rest of the season to run out from that tunnel every time! The intrasquad went well as the blue team competed against the maize team. It was a pretty close meet until the Blue ended on floor and pulled out a 12 - 9 win! Go Blue! There were a few bobbles here and there, but for the most part... everyone looked amazing! This season is going to be great!

Finals are coming up, this week and next, so all of the girls are studying hard. Brugers, Panera, and the Academic Center are a few fav spots of the team to study. Hopefully all goes well and we end the first semester on a good note!

Our last day of practice is on the 19th, which is when most of the team will be going home for a week for Christmas. Everyone is looking forward to seeing their families again! I know I sure am! We return back to practice on the 27th to prepare for our first meet at home against West Virginia, and Arkansas! Everyone should come and watch on January 11th! It will be a great time!

Have a Merry Christmas!Talk to you soon and GO BLUE!

  • Hey Everyone,
I hope you are all doing very well and staying warm in this cold weather! As you may know, I am a freshman this year. I don’t think I could have chosen a better team to be on. I love it here and the team is great. They are very supportive and always willing to help. Everyone is working very hard at the gym and it is showing. Everything is coming together and routines just keep getting better!

I cannot believe that the first semester is almost over. It just flew by. I keep getting told that college just flies by and now I can see what they mean. Everyone is really busy right now with classes coming to an end and finals coming up. I think that everyone is ready to be done with classes and just want them to end.

I just want to remind everyone that our intersquad is this coming Friday, December 7th. It should be a lot of fun, so you should come! I wish to see you at all of our other meets too! Get ready for a fun and amazing year! GO BLUE!!

  • Hello Michigan Fans!
First off, I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving from all of us!! We finished up practice Tuesday night, went to class (for those of us who had them) on Wednesday, and took the short (and not so short) trips home for the holiday! I know this is one of our favorite times of the year because it’s the first opportunity a lot of us have to go home and visit our families! I think we’re ready for Christmas though, because we’ve been playing “Let it Snow,” and “All I want for Christmas is you” for the last couple of weeks in the gym. Maybe the boost of the holidays has helped our practices because we’re looking fantastic! Everyone is working so hard and you can really start to see how much depth and potential we have on this team. It’s truly amazing! To add from Jackie’s team talk, unfortunately we did not win the Ohio State game, tear, although many of us were very dedicated Michigan fans and froze every body part until the last minute ran down. We’ll get them next year though that’s for sure! Anyways, well I should head off to do a few more things with the family before flying home tomorrow, but have a great rest of the Thanksgiving break. I can’t wait to see everyone on December 7th for our intrasquad, and as always GO BLUE!!

  • Hi again!

Hope all is going well. So...Ohio State v. Michigan football game this weekend! We are all so excited for it! Last night some of us got together and watched the Ohio State, Michigan rivalry on HBO. It was really interesting to see all of the history behind it and it pumped us up even more! As far as the gym, everyone is looking really awesome right now. I have seen some really great things that are finally coming together and it's very exciting to see. This week we're going to have some judges come in for a mini intrasquad on a few events so that should go really well. It's crazy how soon Intrasquad really is...only a few weeks! This means season is getting closer and I can't wait! We also can't wait for Thanksgiving break! It's going to be so nice since we've all been really busy with school work and gym the past few weeks. It is a much needed break haha. Today, many of us will go eat Thanksgiving dinner at the dorms with the freshmen, YUM! That is always a good time! Getting to see our families will be really nice too! I haven't seen mine since August, so I can't wait for that...oh and of course a nice homemade meal for Thanksgiving!

Well, Happy early Thankgiving to everyone! Go Blue!!!

  • Hi All!

Wow. I can’t believe it’s already November! This year is going by so quickly… a quarter of my senior year is already over, ahh! But on the bright side, Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and I know everyone is super excited to get a little break from school, spend some time with our families, eat some good food, etc. I know that personally I am just counting down the days… actually, I’m already really excited for Christmas but I guess I have a little while before that rolls around ;)

Everyone is looking so great in the gym; we are going to do amazing things this year! Everyone is so motivated and our team chemistry is fabulous. In fact, last Friday we had a team lock-in at the gym for a little team bonding and fun, and it brought us all even closer together. After practice, we paired off with someone that we don’t normally hang out with too much and we went to dinner with that person. Then we came back to the gym and had some arts and crafts time! We made motivational posters (with markers and glitter!) and they are now hanging around the gym to inspire us. We then played some games, including blind volleyball (the upperclassmen DOMINATED the lowerclassmen!), a panel mat race (I’m not sure I can explain this one, but let’s just say that it’s one of my favorite memories from this year so far!), human knot, and hide and go seek with the lights turned out! After all that fun, we circled up to talk and ended up staying at the gym until 3 in the morning! It was an amazing time and all the thanks go to L-Bo and Eddie who organized it.

I hope everything is going well, and I can’t wait to see all of you once competition season gets here!

    Peace out, and GO BLUE!

  • Hello Everyone,
I hope you all are having a great fall so far. We have been enjoying the cooler weather and the changing of the leaves. I can’t believe how fast this semester is going. It seems like yesterday I was just coming back from summer break. It has been great being back in the gym and doing gymnastics again. The team is looking fabulous and I have a really good feeling about this year. Everyone is really motivated and ready to have an amazing year.
Last week we had our dress up for Halloween in the gym. It was pretty funny to see all of the costumes. The freshmen class dressed up as three blind mice, the sophomores were the Spice Girls, the junior class dressed up as each other. Tachi was Huneth, Huneth was Becky, and Becky was Tachi. The senior class was different Disney princesses, and I dressed up as a grandmother. I figured since I’m the old lady of the team and everyone calls me Granny I mine as well dress up like it haha. It was pretty scary to see what I would look like in 60 or so years. We all had a good laugh with the different costumes.
Well that’s it for now. Time to get back to work before practice. I hope all of you have a great fall. Get ready for an exciting season coming up. Hope to see all of you at the meets.
    GO BLUE!!!!

  • Hey Guys!

Katie and Becky here. We are writing to you from our usual weekend gathering place, Panera (or otherwise known as PBC), where we have been studying since before dawn. We braved the darkness in order to see the sun rise…and boy was it beautiful! Except that Katie had her back to the sun all morning and Becky had no windows by her comfy chair. Haha! We are some of their most frequent costumers and even have our own little section in Panera!

Picking up where Huneth left off…we had our team breakfast dinner a week ago. All I can say is what an amazing display of yummy breakfast delights!! We had chef Tachi making the crepes, pancakes, and waffles, which all came out fabulous with amazing toppings added to all of them. We also had yummy bagels with everyone’s new favorite: hazelnut cream cheese. After the eating festivities, some of us engaged in making desserts from the leftover toppings. This is one of my (Becky) favorite team gatherings of the year because I love breakfast food and I can’t safely cook it myself.

With Halloween approaching, some of us went to see Saw 4 at the theaters and it was awesome! There are a bunch of Saw fans on the team, and if you haven’t seen any of the Saw movies and love scary and suspenseful movies, you should definitely go and rent all 3 and then see the 4th in the theater. We all thought the series was over after Saw 3, but we were delightfully surprised to find out a Saw 4 had been released. And man was Saw 4 amazing! It was scary right from the first scene. It was a fun little retreat to the movie theaters!

Speaking of Halloween, everyone is excited to show of their costumes at practice on Wednesday. Each year, each class dresses up for practice and then we have fun little assignments on each of the events, sometimes receiving candy for good tricks! Happy early Halloween everyone! Keep in touch because the next posting will reveal all of the amazing Halloween costumes and Halloween fun!!

    Go Blue!

  • Hi Everyone!!!
I can’t believe fall break is almost over but it was a good break to rest our bodies, relax, and catch up on some studying. A couple girls went home and some stayed in town. Oh! And some girls got their floor routines done over the break. I can’t wait to see them! All the routines this year are sooooo good. Well, it’s finally starting to feel like October weather!!! It’s so pretty outside because the leaves are finally changing colors. I just love walking around central campus, especially around the diag!

Practice has been going great. Everyone looks really good! I can’t wait to get this season started and show our fans how amazing this team is! It’s going to be a great year! Well, I hope you all are doing great and are excited to see this team in action in about t-minus 2 months! GO BLUE!

  • Hey it is Jordan and Kelsey,
Wow! It feels great to be back in the swing of things. We know Nellie already told you, but we just wanted to emphasize how special walking on the field and receiving the rings was for us...and to do it in the company of friends, family, fans, and alumni...what a special day! I think that the whole team was really motivated to get into the gym on Monday after being reminded of how much our team went through last year. It wasn't easy, but we all stuck together and we know that we will be stronger this year because of it. We had a talk with the coaches yesterday and all of us are beginning to realize our full potential. Bruck, Sarah, and I have been able to work out with the team again, which feels absolutely amazing! Kels is getting a little anxious because she is a few months behind us. I try to put her in line and tell her you can't rush it...even though that is the same thing she had to tell me for 6 months. The freshmen are looking really good as well, and they are the perfect fit for our team.
We look forward to a strong and healthy year! :)

  • Hello again!!

Welcome back to another exciting year of Michigan Gymnastics!! I hope all of you had a wonderful summer. Most of the girls went home for July and August; however, a few stuck around all summer. We are very excited to be back in Ann Arbor, and back training in our amazing facility. We had our team tailgate last weekend where we were honored to have Don Shepard present us with our 2007 BIG TEN rings!! We also walked across the field in the pre-game show and stayed to watch the Michigan Football Team beat Penn State!! It was great to see some of your familiar faces at the tailgate!!

Classes are in full swing now and the leaves on the trees are beginning to change colors. Our three new freshmen: Trish, Kylee, and Kari have been a fantastic addition to our team. They look amazing in the gym and we are so excited to have them represent Michigan in this up and coming season. We have been having a lot of fun in the gym and our new TIVO system is absolutely amazing!! We all love it!! We are able to watch ourselves do our skills as soon as we are done with them in order to make the needed corrections. In a couple of months we will be able to show all of you our new floor routines which we are very excited about!!

I hope all is going well for everyone and it is great to be back here to keep you guys updated on what is going on!!

    GO BLUE!!
