"Follow your dreams one step at a time, don’t settle for less, just continue to climb. Follow your dreams, if you stumble don’t stop, keep your eye on the goal and press on to the top. For only on top can you see the whole view and see what you’ve done and have yet to do."

Q & A - About Gymnastics and U-M

Why do you like doing gymnastics?   Because every time I go to the gym, I get to do what I love with my team. Imagine doing your favorite thing, with your best friends.
What is your favorite event or routine? Why?   I love to practice bars, because it was the most challenging for me. My favorite event to compete is floor because you get to have fun with the crowd, and beam because it gives me the biggest rush.

What attracted you to the University of Michigan?   All the girls on the team, and just the idea of being a wolverine, and having the pride that goes along with it.
What has been your most memorable gymnastics moment at Michigan?   Winning big tens my freshman and sophomore year, and making it to beam finals at nationals my freshman year.

What has been your biggest challenge/obstacle in gym or college (or both)? How did your overcome this challenge?   Not being able to see my little sister every day. I call her all the time, and during the summer, I spend like every second hanging with her.
What has been your most embarrassing moment in the gym (ever)?   I don’t do anything embarrassing, really I don’t, hehe
What goes through your head immediately before a routine?   I tell myself to just do what I’ve been doing for eighteen years, and hit it for the team.

What advice would you share with up-and-coming Michigan gymnasts?   Enjoy every single moment of it, because it’s going to be the best experience you’ve ever had, and it’s going to go by extremely fast.
What is your favorite part of the gym meets?   I love the feeling I get when I salute to a judge after doing a routine that I know was awesome.
Other than Michigan, where is your favorite place to compete and why?   I like going to Minnesota, because then I can see all my friends and family. I also like UCLA, because of the beach and good weather.

Q & A - About You Personally

What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?

How would your teammates describe you?
They would probably say that I like to have a good time and love laughing.

Who is one of your role models and why?
My sister Anna for sure, she always gives me the best advice, and she is so confident in herself.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Eventually a mom, and a nurse.

Besides gymnastics, what is one thing that you do well?
I’m good at downhill skiing.

If you were given $431,718 how would you spend it?
I would probably try and save, after going on a little shopping spree. I would also give my sister some to go back to Guatemala and help out down there again. (I’m so proud of her).

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would love being able to fly (gymnastics would be so much easier).

What’s the best way to show your Michigan spirit?
Sing the fight song.

Since beginning college one thing I’ve learned is that…
You need to live for the moment. I’ve also learned how helpful coffee can actually be.
