Q & A - About Gymnastics and U-M

Why do you like doing gymnastics?   That’s a good question. It was just something I was good at when I was younger. I made great friends had had no reason to leave. Plus, there aren’t any balls involved; you only have to control your body, nothing extra.
What is your favorite event or routine? Why?   I always loved beam because it’s such a smooth and graceful event. But, since becoming part of the team and a permanent spectator, I’d have to say I love watching bars the most. The girls are just amazing!

What attracted you to the University of Michigan?   I chose U of M because of the great academics, but since I’ve been here, I could never imagine myself anywhere else. The level of pride and tradition at Michigan is great; I love being surrounded by Michigan pride.
What has been your most memorable gymnastics moment at Michigan?   That would have to be Big Tens 2004. The girls were just on, and I love watching them succeed.

What has been your most embarrassing moment in the gym (ever)?   I think Scott is responsible for most of them. He likes to embarrass me in front of the new freshman/recruits before I’ve even met them. Some story about same arm, same leg……

What is the most interesting person that you've met at UM and why? (new 11/05!)   You know that guy who plays the harmonica in front of the UGLI? Yeah, he works in the same research lab as I do, weird!
What is the worst exam that you've taken? (new 11/05!)   Anything that requires a bluebook, because that usually indicates some sort of humanities class, and I could do without those.

Q & A - About You Personally

What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
I came to gymnastics camp at U of M for 7 years.

How would your teammates describe you?
Organized.

Who is one of your role models and why?
My mom will always be my number one role model. She is a really strong person who has dealt with a lot. Even when problems arise, she perseveres, and as a result, she’s achieved a lot. : )

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a doctor!

Besides gymnastics, what is one thing that you do well?
School?

If you were given $431,718 how would you spend it?
Maybe travel somewhere exotic and donate a bunch to a camp for disabled and underprivileged children…..Everyone should be able to go to camp! The rest would have to go into inventing a transport machine like Steve Urkel made.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Gonna have to go with flying.

What’s the best way to show your Michigan spirit?
Keeping the gymnastics team moving smoothly through the season….and of course making sure they’re wearing the right scrunchie.

Since beginning college one thing I’ve learned is that…
College is a great place to learn about yourself; you never know what you’ll like until you try it.

If you could only listen to one song from now on, what would it be? (new 11/05!)
I'm going to have to say something Rascal Flatts: Day Before You, When the Sand Runs Out, Bless the Broken Road, These Days, My Worst Fear - the list goes on and on ... (I do realize that I listed more than one, sorry!)

Have you ever held a job? If so, what? (new 11/05!)
I was a YMCA Day Camp Counselor for three summers, and now, besides being the team manager, I work in a biology research lab on campus.

If there was one thing you wish you were better at, what would it be? (new 11/05!)
I wish I was better at dealing with stress. I'm definately not very good at it.

If there was one country in the world that you could travel to, where would it be? (new 11/05!)
I want to go to Italy, because my grandfather was born there.
