The Men's Glee Club begins its 150th anniversary celebration with an all-American program of new and diverse music. Founded in 1859, the Club continues to take pride in performing music of diverse styles, traditions, and time periods, and has championed the works of living composers. This concert includes contemporary music in the classical, folk, popular, and gospel styles.

This concert features Searchlight Soul by Pulitzer- and Grammy-award winning composer William Bolcom, a five-movement set highlighting the poetry of University of Michigan students. The Club will also perform A stopwatch and an ordnance map by Samuel Barber, Everyone Sang by Joel Martinson, The Morning Trumpet arranged by Mack Wilberg, Lowlands and Let the Bullgine Run arranged by Alice Parker, and Wonderful Is Your Name by Hezekiah Walker. As always, the concert also includes the a cappella antics of The Friars and concludes with rousing Michigan songs.

The Men’s Glee Club begins celebrates 150 years of Fall concerts with an all-American program of new and diverse music. Special guests on this concert are the men of the Southfield-Lathrup High School Madrigal Singers, Jeffrey Martin, conductor, who appear with the Men’s Glee Club as part of the inaugural Men’s Glee Club Adopt-A-Choir program for mentoring and outreach.

The oldest and second-oldest collegiate men’s choirs in the country share a concert in this historic event. The culmination of three major celebrations in two years – the 150th anniversaries of the Harvard (2009) and University of Michigan (2010) Glee Clubs, and HGC conductor Jameson Marvin’s 32nd and final year as Director of Choral Activities at Harvard University – this memorable concert will feature music from many different time periods and styles, including Renaissance, American contemporary, and folk songs from around the world.

MGC celebrates 150 years of Tradition, Camaraderie, and Musical Excellence with this special concert featuring MGC alumni. Hundreds of MGC alumni will gather to perform some of MGC’s greatest hits under the direction of former conductors Willis Patterson, Leonard Johnson, Patrick Gardner, Bradley Bloom, Jerry Blackstone, Steven Lusmann, and current conductor Paul Rardin. The repertoire includes such favorites as Randall Thompson The Last Words of David and Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria, as well as folk songs, spirituals, and Michigan songs. It’s part one of a memorable doubleheader of concerts, culminating later that evening with the current Club’s 150th Annual Spring Concert.

The Men’s Glee Club celebrates 150 years of Tradition, Camaraderie, and Musical Excellence with this concert of music from around the world. Honoring the great international tours to six continents that the Club has taken for over the past half century,  the Club presents music from Germany, Russia, China, Japan, Polynesia, Jamaica, and England. Repertoire includes Standchen by Franz Schubert, Spaseniye sodelal by Pavel Chesnekov, Ka Hia Manu arranged by Steven Hatfield, and world premieres of Chinese songs Deng Guan Que Lou and Gao Shan Quin arranged by assistant conductor Reed Criddle. As always, the concert also includes the a cappella antics of The Friars and concludes with rousing Michigan songs. It’s part two of a memorable doubleheader that begins Saturday afternoon at 3pm in Hill Auditorium with the 150th Celebration Alumni Concert.
