Michael Cromwell Michael Cromwell, President
Michael Cromwell is proud to serve as the President of the Glee Club in its 148th year. In this his fourth year in the Club, Michael is excited for one last year of college, and is looking forward to working with the executive committee to make the Glee Club as great as it can be. He will also be the President of the Michigan A Cappella Council, which strives to unite and promote the thirteen a cappella groups on campus. A Business and Latin double major, Michael worked this summer in New York for Lehman Brothers, and he is also one of five students sponsored by the University to be considered for the Rhodes, Marshall, and Mitchell Scholarships for study in Great Britain and Ireland.

Philip Schettenhelm Philip Schettenhelm, Vice-President
Phil Schettenhelm is in his senior year at U of M studying Biology. With two years of Glee Club under his belt, he is honored and excited to be serving as the Vice President of such a prestigious organization in his third and final season. This year he will also be working on the begining stages of the Glee Club's 150th anniversary preparing for the monumentous event and will also be a member of The Friars. After his final year at U of M, Phil hopes to further his education by getting a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration. He is very excited for this year's events and can not wait to travel with the Club to Spain next spring.

Tim McQuade Tim McQuade, Business Manager
Tim McQuade is currently a senior at the University of Michigan studying mathematics and economics. The 2007-2008 year is his second year on the executive committee and he looks forward to continuing his management of the business aspects of the organization. Having sung all throughout high school, Tim knew that he wanted to continue this passion at the University of Michigan. After hearing the Glee Club at their mass meeting in the fall of his freshman year, he knew that he wanted to be a Clubber.

Rob Edgar Rob Edgar, Operations Manager
Rob is in his fifth year in the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club and his first as a member of the executive committee. The last two years he spent working for Club as the tickets manager. Seeing a full Hill Auditorium is always a fantastic sight and all the work behind the scenes to get it so was very fulfilling for Rob. In his final year studying Industrial and Operations Engineering Rob is honored to help lead the Club in it’s 148th year and to Spain for tour!!

Eric Portenga Eric Portenga, Publicity Manager
Eric is a senior in the College of Literature, Science, and Arts, studying geological sciences. This year will be Eric's fourth in the Glee Club and his first on the executive committee. He has worked for the Club as the Stage Manager and Major Media Manager and is excited to take on the position of Publicity Manager. Eric has been bleeding blue since he was born and feels priviledged to be part of such a great Michigan tradition!

Scott Venman Scott Venman, Parliamentarian
Scott Venman is a junior in the University of Michigan's College of Engineering. He is pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in French and Francophone Studies. He is also in the Program in Global Engineering. Scott is originally from Lansing, MI where he graduated from Waverly High School. He has been singing much of his life and wanted to continue singing in college with the Glee Club. This is his third year in the Glee Club. He says, "It is the perfect opportunity to continue a musical education without actually enrolling in a course." Scott is also the 2009 Tour manager and will be hard at work during the next two years to plan this southeastern adventure. As Parliamentarian for the 2007-2008 year, Scott is excited to make the constitution of the Michigan Men's Glee Club a living document to be upheld and adapted by the members and executive committee of the Glee Club.

Drew Bollinger Drew Bollinger, Assistant Business Manager
Drew Bollinger is enjoying his second semester on the Executive Board and his fourth year in the Glee Club. He is first-year senior Math and Voice Performance dual major. He previously had served as the Club's Small Groups Manager and is looking forward to the 2007 Spring Tour in Spain. Drew is also a member of the UM Sailing Club and a tutor and grader for the Math Department. On Saturdays in the fall however, there is nowhere he would rather be than the Big House. Go Blue!

Abe Hiatt Abe Hiatt, Assistant Alumni Relations Manager
Abe Hiatt is currently greatly enjoying his involvement with the Glee Club in his Junior year as the Alumni Relations Manager. Initially serving as a 150th co-coordinator with Vice President Phil Schettenhelm, he is happy that he can apply all his work for club in the past to what he does with exec today. His involvement does not stop there; he is also glad to be a member of The Friars. Abe hopes to continue his efforts to make club better every year that he possibly can.

Carl Smith Carl Smith, Faculty Advisor
Carl Smith is beginning his 11th year as our Faculty Advisor. He is a CPA and retired in May 2006 after 27+ years with the University. During his University tenure he served as Director of University Audits for 18 years and spent the remainder of his time as internal audit manager and senior auditor in the Office of University Audits. Carl was a second tenor with the Men's Glee Club from fall 1965 through the fall semester 1966 and was a member of the Club that debuted Dr. Phil Duey's Go Blue at the 1966 Spring Concert. Carl is in his 23nd year singing with the UMS Choral Union and has sung with the Donald Bryant Singers, Ann Arbor Cantata Singers, and other organizations as time allowed.

Paul Rardin Paul Rardin, Director

Paul Rardin is associate director of choirs at the University of Michigan, where he teaches undergraduate conducting and conducts the Men's Glee Club and University Choir. He previously taught at Towson University in Towson, Maryland, where for twelve years he served as director of choirs. Rardin's choruses have earned regional and national acclaim, and have performed in such venues as Boston Symphony Hall, Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Washington National Cathedral, Duke University Chapel, The Cathedral of St. Philip (Atlanta, GA), Riverside Church (New York, NY), and Immaculate Conception (San Diego, CA). The Towson University Chorale performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 2002 and 2004.

Rardin is a graduate of Williams College and the University of Michigan, where he received the M.M. in composition and the D.M.A. in conducting. He has studied conducting with Theodore Morrison, Jerry Blackstone, and Gustav Meier, and composition with Leslie Bassett, George Wilson, and Robert Suderburg. He has also participated in master classes with Helmuth Rilling, Charles Bruffy, and Dale Warland. Rardin has served as guest conductor for state and regional high school choral festivals in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Oregon. He has presented clinics for state, regional and national conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, as well as the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, Virginia Music Educators Association, and numerous county and city school systems in Maryland.

Rardin is also a published arranger, composer, and author. His settings of spirituals and folk songs are published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing. His articles, many on the topic of contemporary music, have appeared in the ACDA publications Choral Journal, Troubadour, and Bel Canto.
