Intercollegiate Men's Choruses (IMC)
As a student in high school and college I’ve been fortunate to have excellent men’s choirs available to me. Being in male choirs has been such a part of my life that it is actually hard to imagine not being in one. I knew in high school that in college I would have the opportunity to be in a male chorus. Now that I am in college the next step is slightly foggy. I’m certain they exist, but I can imagine that finding a men’s chorus after graduation could well be a challenge. That is, until now.
As IMC delegate from the University of Michigan, I took IMC’s suggestion to develop a list of metropolitan men’s choirs that could be used both by IMC members and by alumni of my university. The process was as simple as Google. I searched all the variations, “men’s choir”, “male chorus” and everything in between, clicking on the first twenty or so pages that appeared relevant. I explored the websites of over 50 male groups across the country and compiled their locations, names, and websites in a list the can be found below. In my ventures I found that the best way to contact most of the groups is via website form, which can be found easily from the links I included. Of course my list is far from complete so do not be discouraged if I have not included a group in your area. I encourage you to find one. If there is anything my experience has proven, it is that men throughout our country continue to join together to share the joy of singing.
