WOJCIK and DRYER Named 2008 Pairs Tournament Champions
Jim Wojcik and Eric Dryer won this year's pairs matrix. Wojcik was the top starboard and posted the fastest overall time, and Dryer was the quickest port. The top 8 finishers will go to Boston in two weeks to compete at the Head of the Charles (October 4). |

Matt Hughes '04 Named to 2008 Beijing Olympic Team
Matt Hughes '04 was named to the U.S. Olympic Team to compete in Beijing this summer, as a member of the Men's Quadruple Sculls. Hughes has represented the U.S. in international rowing each year since his graduation, and has won a silver medal in the 2005 World Championships as a member of the Men's Four with Coxswain. In 2007 he qualified the U.S. in the Men's Double Sculls, along with partner Sam Stitt. Stitt was also named to the Men's Quad.
Hughes began rowing at Michigan in the fall of 2000 as a walk on. He was a standout while on the team, and a three time member of the varsity eight, in each of his varsity seasons. He set the school record in 5 different distances on the ergometer. Hughes, from Ludington, began sculling while at Michigan also. He becomes the third man to make the team with Michigan men's rowing ties, joining Steve Warner ''00, and Doug Herland, a former coach. This is Hughes first Olympic team.
