Wolverines Up to Challenge on 1st Day of IRA's
GRAND RAPIDS, MI.--he University of Michigan
men's rowing team won the Team Point trophy in
the annual Lubber's Cup in Grand Rapids,
Michigan on Saturday (March 31) on the Grand
River. In the head-lining race, the
Wolverines' 1V8 boat finished first out of six
boats, edging last season's Canadian National
Champion, Western Ontario by three seconds with
a 6:09 finish. After trailing by almost a
full length mid-way through the race, the
Michigan boat picked things up down the stretch,
winning with a bit of open water. A strong
head-current was prevalent throughout the day. |
