Wolverines Up to Challenge on 1st Day of IRA's

GRAND RAPIDS, MI.--he University of Michigan men's rowing team won the Team Point trophy in the annual Lubber's Cup in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday (March 31) on the Grand River.  In the head-lining race, the Wolverines' 1V8 boat finished first out of six boats, edging last season's Canadian National Champion, Western Ontario by three seconds with a 6:09 finish.  After trailing by almost a full length mid-way through the race, the Michigan boat picked things up down the stretch, winning with a bit of open water.  A strong head-current was prevalent throughout the day.
