Day Two of IRA's Provides Stiff Challenges
CAMDEN, N.J.-- The #10 University of Michigan men's rowing
team was back in action on Friday (June 1) as
they participated in the second of three days of
racing at the IRA National Championship Regatta
in Camden N.J., on the Cooper River. In their best chance ever to reach the event's
biggest race, the 1V8 Grand Final, the
Wolverines' 1st Varsity Eight boat finished
fifth out of six in their semi-final race,
posting a time of a 5:46.849. The crew
will now find themselves in the Petite Level
Final on Saturday, still hoping to return to Ann
Arbor with the program's best finish in the 1V8.
Amongst the rest of the Wolverine crews, the
Frosh 4 and 8 boats both finished sixth in their
semi's, while the 2V8 had another effort,
finishing third out of six boats in their
semi-final race with a time of 5:55.452, just
two and a half seconds off the lead. The
4+ finished fifth in the E Level Final, while
the 4- finds themselves in the third level final
on Saturday after finishing fifth in their rep
race on Thursday. The Open 4 finished
fourth in their rep race and will also race in a
3rd Level Final on Saturday. Be sure to
