Day Two of IRA's Provides Stiff Challenges

CAMDEN, N.J.-- The #10 University of Michigan men's rowing team was back in action on Friday (June 1) as they participated in the second of three days of racing at the IRA National Championship Regatta in Camden N.J., on the Cooper River.
In their best chance ever to reach the event's biggest race, the 1V8 Grand Final, the Wolverines' 1st Varsity Eight boat finished fifth out of six in their semi-final race, posting a time of a 5:46.849.  The crew will now find themselves in the Petite Level Final on Saturday, still hoping to return to Ann Arbor with the program's best finish in the 1V8.

Amongst the rest of the Wolverine crews, the Frosh 4 and 8 boats both finished sixth in their semi's, while the 2V8 had another effort, finishing third out of six boats in their semi-final race with a time of 5:55.452, just two and a half seconds off the lead.  The 4+ finished fifth in the E Level Final, while the 4- finds themselves in the third level final on Saturday after finishing fifth in their rep race on Thursday.  The Open 4 finished fourth in their rep race and will also race in a 3rd Level Final on Saturday.  Be sure to visit www.row2k.com for a complete schedule of the final day of races along with updated results, and come back at the end of the day for a complete recap.
