Varsity Eight and Freshman Eight Lead Wins at OWCR

Spring Lake, MICH.-- Early Wins from the Varsity Eight and the Freshman Eight led to the Second Varsity Eight winning the 2V event with the Third Varsity Eight taking third in the same event.

The Varsity Eight event was the only event with heats and then a final. The Varsity Eight led early in the heat and controlled the entire race. Later in the final, it was a similar race, with Michigan taking a large lead over Grand Valley and absorbing a move from Grand Valley in the second half to win by over two seconds. This was the second week in a row where the Varsity Eight beat Grand Valley's Varsity.

In the Freshman Eight, Michigan had a very strong race to beat Grand Valley by lengths and lengths of open water, who ended up fourth. The strongest competition came from Ohio State.

Michigan won the Men's Team Points Award.
