U.S. Double Finish Disappoints, Despite Olympic Bid
MUNICH, GERMANY-- The United States Men's Double of Matt Hughes ('04) and Sam Stitt took 9th place overall at 2007 World Rowing Championships. The Crew led for over half of the race holding a one second lead from the opening 500m. Croatia and Australia ending up finish first and second respectively, both with strong second 1000m. With the top 11 in the event receiving automatic bids for their countries to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Hughes and Stitt guaranteed that the U.S. will have an entry in the Men's Double Sculls, however, it is undetermined if Hughes and Stitt will make up the pairing.
