Notice of Race

BONE CHILLER REGATTA

OCTOBER 25, 2009


Join us for a fun day of racing and family-friendly events.
Lunch will be provided for $5/person.


Rules

ALL Classes of sail boats up to 18' are welcome . The regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012, the Rules of each participating class, and the Sailing Instructions. Results will be based on wind adjusted Portsmouth Yardstick. (Note that old club JY-15s with Quantum Sails will be given a slight bump in handicap number to make it fair.)

 Be sure to wear proper clothing, as the water is cold! For advice check here.

Eligibility

The Regatta is open to club members sailing club boats and anyone sailing their own boats. Club members must have at least their crew sailing test signed off (or equivalent skills) at the time of the regatta. In the event of a "High Wind Day", as designated by the Race Committee, there must be at least one Helm or Skipper rated member (or equivalent skills) in each club boat.

Registration

Please pre-register by contacting Mark Haynes with name, boat desired to be sailed and crew member(s). Club boats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are looking for a skipper or crew please ask and we will try to connect people of similar interests.


Lunch        

Please RSVP for lunch by October 25 with number of attendees. Cost will be $5 per person, payable at registration.

Prizes

Individual trophies will be awarded to the top finishers. The Bone Chiller Trophy, which resides in the club boathouse will be awarded to the top club boat based on PY handicap.  To qualify as a club boat, the hull, sails and foils must be property of UMSC or the UM Sailing Team.

Prizes will also be awarded for winners of the costume & pumpkin carving contest. Other prizes TBD.


Club Rules

No alcohol is allowed on the grounds, and no pets.  Children must be supervised at all times.
