Notice of Race
THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN SAILING CLUB
SPRING FLING REGATTA
Sunday, May 10 2009
Hosted by the U of M Sailing Club Fleet 79
Sailing on Baseline Lake, just north of Ann Arbor
No registration fee!

|
The UMSC invites you
to enjoy a day of exciting short course, small lake sailing
(just like in college). We plan on holding 8-10 races with a
throw-out. The courses will be Gold Cup (triangle windward
leeward) or Windward-Leeward.
|
|
Rules
|
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the
Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012, the Rules of the JY15 Class and
the Sailing Instructions.
We will allow co-skippering.
|
|
Eligibility |
The Regatta is open to all JY15 sailors. You don't need to be a
member of the JY Class Association to race. You don't need to be a
member of the UM Sailing Club either.
-
To sail a club boat, both skipper and crew must
be current club members.
-
The skipper or both co-skippers of a club boat
must have their crew sailing test signed or an equivalent level of
skill.
-
Club members can specify ahead of time which
hull and sail #s they wish to reserve (first come, first served).

Registration |
You are encouraged to register in advance to help us better
prepare for the regatta: email
Mark Haynes,
Racing Chair, to do so.
Registrations will be accepted on the morning of the regatta
until the start of the Skippers' Meeting.
There is no fee for this regatta; it's free!
We will be collecting a small optional fee (~$10/person) at the skippers
meeting for lunch. Note that we do not have food or drink concessions, so
this is the only option to purchase lunch on-site.
Feel free to bring your own food and drinks if you
prefer.
Camping is available on site for participants.
Club members may reserve a boat in advance on a
first-come, first-served basis. The club has only ten JY-15s,
so there may be a waiting list if all boats are reserved.
Contact Mark to reserve your boat, or use the sign-up sheet at the club.
Here is a list of
everyone who's currently registered.

|
Prizes |
Prizes will be awarded to the top five skippers and crews.
We'll also be giving away many fun prizes to other sailors.
|
|
Club Rules |
No alcohol is allowed on the grounds, and no pets. Children must be supervised at all times. |
|
|
Misc. Information |
The regatta will be held at the club's property on Baseline
Lake, at 8010 Strawberry Lake Road in Dexter, Michigan.
