Commemorate the 30 year anniversary of Roe v Wade with Students for Choice / VOX!

Students for Choice-VOX are hosting a two day conference entitled “Giving Voice to Reproductive Empowerment” in order to commemorate the 30 year anniversary of the landmark decision Roe v Wade on January 24-25, 2003.

The keynote speaker is Laura Kaplan of the Jane Collective, who served as a counselor for the famous underground abortion service in pre-Roe Chicago. She will provide a lecture to the public on January 24th at 6:00 pm in the Pendelton Room in the Michigan Union. A film screening of “Jane: An Abortion Service” will follow.

The second day of the conference will consist of speaker panels and workshops that will take place from 9:30 am – 5:00 pm in the Wolverine ABC and Kuenzel rooms in the Michigan Union. Some topics include: “Global Women’s Health”, “Women’s Reproductive Health Myths”, “Safer Sex Practices”, “Continuing Activism: A Panel on Feminist Internships and Careers”, “Community Organizing”, and an “Interactive Action Briefing”. Our goal is to promote activism and educate others in the process!
