About Luciana Valle

Luciana has taken the U.S. by storm winning widespread recognition as the best female teacher to come out of Buenos Aires in many years. She has developed a passionate following drawn to her magnetic and expressive personality and her enthusiastic devotion to tango. She is an energetic and inspiring teacher noted for her technical clarity and her special genius at conveying the senuous style and soul of tango. Her classes will focus on understanding the structure of the dance, the technical keys to move comfortably and expressively and the strong connection required to lead and follow. Her workshops will give you the technical foundation to find and develop your own personal style.

About Jaimes Friedgen

Jaimes has been dancing tango since 1996. Over many years, he has studied with a wide variety of teachers, but his two main influences are Angel Echeveria and Mariano "Chicho" Frumboli. He is one of the most popular teachers in the U.S. today, and is well respected for his creativity, musicality and deep insight into the inner workings of the dance. He is driven to be a full time tango teacher by his love of watching people continually grow and blossom through their exploration of tango, and feels very fortunate to be a part of that process. He is also a dynamic performer, and has brought much inspiration to dancers everywhere through his near-manic energy and absolute love of the dance.

Enrollment

Please register online for the weekend workshops/milongas. We will not accept email reservations!

Due to the capacity of the rooms, enrollment in each workshop will be LIMITED to 50. As we process registrants on a first-come-first-serve basis, enrolling well in advance will assure you a spot in the workshops and save you money as well (see prices below). It will also give the organizers ample time to handle your requests (we appreciate your early enrollment greatly!).

Please note that student rates are available only to FULL-TIME students with a valid student ID.

Please note that both the Semester Milonga Pass and the Semester Lesson/Practica Pass will not be valid for the events during this weekend.

Private Lessons

Luciana will be available for privates on Friday(June 30), Monday(July 3) and Tuesday(July 4) and Jaimes will be available for privates on Monday(July 3) To schedule private lessons, please contact Melida melidachin@gmail.com directly by email or personally during the weekend. Please let us know if you have any scheduling preferences. The slots will be filled on a first-come first serve basis.

Accomodations

Housing with local dancers may be available for those out-of-towners who register prior to June 20. If you are interested, please email tangohousing@yahoo.com. The sooner you register, the more likely it is that we will be able to find you housing.

Local dancers who house out-of-towners will receive a 25% discount on the workshop cost for each individual they host. If you are a local dancer interested in providing housing, please sign up here.

Park entrance at the southwest corner of the intersection of Huron Parkway and Fuller. (East of Huron Parkway Fuller becomes Geddes.) Cross the wood bridge and drive east along to the last parking lot.

Free covered parking at specified times on weekends and evenings (please see signage on structure) is available in Thompson Street Parking structure which is right behind the Michigan Union. Thompson street is parallel to and one block west of State St.

Flying to Ann Arbor

The closest major airport to Ann Arbor is Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).

The airport is about 35 miles east of Ann Arbor. From the airport, take I-94 West and follow it all the way to the State Street Exit in Ann Arbor. Take a right on State St. and continue for about 3 miles until you reach the University of Michigan campus.
