WE ARE...
A volunteer-based student organization dedicated to the philosophy and proposition that tango is not a commodity but rather an art form to be shared freely. It shall be cultivated in a community of Club participants, which fosters leadership and operates with a firm appreciation of the various talents, abilities, and motivations of those who give that community form.

¡Hola! ¿Bailamos Tango?

Welcome to the Michigan Argentine Tango Club web page. Our group consists of students from the University of Michigan and community members from Ann Arbor and surrounding areas, all of whom are very enthusiastic (read crazy...) about the dance.

The purpose of the club is to provide a venue within the campus for learning/practicing/enjoying the Argentine Tango. Our group is a non-profit organization and we try to make our lessons and social dancing events very affordable. We encourage students and community members to be a part of the club and volunteer to take care of activities that help to keep the club running.

Our regular events include:
  • Milongas (dance parties) at least twice a month USUALLY (please check the schedule) on the first and third saturdays of the month.

  • Beginner, Advanced Beginner, and Intermediate level progressive tango lessons every Wednesday evening with a practica afterwards.

  • Monday Night Practicas and occasional classes at the Pittsfield Grange.

  • Tango festivals/workshop weekends with guest instructors in January, March, May, July, September, and November.

Join our mailing list or check our schedule to confirm dates and get more information on our upcoming events. If you have any questions, please email us at umtango@umich.edu
