What is the best way to transfer money from Turkey?

First of all, as soon as you arrive and get your student ID; you'll be able to open a bank account in UMCU (UM Credit Union) or in TCF. With this account you'll be able to wire money overseas with the required fees. If you don't want to pay the tranfer fees; there is an ATM for CityBank which is around 15-20 minutes drive from the campus. You'll be able to withdraw money from there if you have an account in CityBank. Another popular option is using a Paypal account, you should check their website for more information.

What are the best places to stay if I need temporary housing in Ann Arbor?

How do I get a cell phone line?

The most popular service providers are: T-Mobile, Cingular, Verizon Wireless and Spirit. They have some deals that you have to choose from, you basically pay a certain amount every month for a limited number of minutes. You pay more for every extra minute. If you don't have a credit history in USA; you'll need to pay the deposit which would be around $300 - $500. There are also pay-as-you-go options (similar to HazirKart in Turkey) which won't require the deposit, however they are more expensive per minute. Should I take the AEE Exam and how do I register?

New students should register for the English proficiency exam at the University's website. Students coming from an English medium university are not obliged to take this exam. (P.S. Students from METU had to take the exam last year. However this was a mistake, if it happens again this year, you can contact the university.)

Should I fill out the immunization form?

The newcomers are often asked to fill out a the immunization form by the University Health Service (UHS). Currently, students coming from Turkey were not obliged to fill out this form, but we suggest you to double check at www.uhs.umich.edu.

How do I get a driver's liscence?
