Roommate arrested following fight

A 20-year-old resident of Alice Lloyd Residence Hall was arrested and released Dec. 5 after he reportedly punched his roommate in the face during an argument. The 22-year-old victim was taken to the U-M Hospital Emergency Room for treatment of substantial facial injuries. The case is under review at the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office for authorization of formal charges.

Hospital security officer assaulted

The mother of a patient at Mott Children's Hospital was arrested Dec. 7 in connection with an assault of a hospital security officer Dec. 5. According to Department of Public Safety (DPS) police reports, the mother was attempting to remove her 15-year-old son from the hospital against the direction of medical personnel. When the hospital security officer attempted to intervene, the mother bit the officer multiple times. The son reportedly participated in the assault as well. During the scuffle, the mother left and the patient was returned to his room. He was turned over to the county juvenile detention system Dec. 8 upon his hospital release. Charges against the mother are being reviewed by Washtenaw County prosecutors.

Tunnel trespassers caught

Three students were arrested and released Dec. 4 after they were observed exiting the utility tunnel into Stockwell Residence Hall. Police found them in possession of two cases of soda syrup. Washtenaw County prosecutors are reviewing charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Stolen car found after crash

A 2000 Ford Ranger reported stolen from a North Campus parking lot Dec. 4 was found the same day by Inkster police following a single-car crash. A staff member told DPS she had parked her vehicle near the North Campus Housing Services office on Baxter Road when she arrived for work just before 9 a.m., but discovered it missing when she left at 4:30 p.m. DPS and Inkster police continue to investigate the incident.
