U-M selects Diag for Spring Commencement

The votes are in and the decision has been made to hold Spring Commencement on the Diag. Graduating students were asked to declare their preferred location, the Diag or Elbel Field, in a poll that went out early last week. Of the 3,002 who responded, 66 percent favored the Diag, Provost Teresa Sullivan and Vice President for Student Affairs E. Royster Harper announced Friday in a letter to students. Shortly after the votes were tallied, the president and executive officers endorsed the location. More>



New policy to help grad student parents

When Rackham graduate students need time off from school to accommodate childbirth or adoption, they now can use a six-week parental accommodation period available through a new graduate student parental policy. More>

but not at Big House

The University has announced that Spring Commencement will not be held at Michigan Stadium, but it will take place on campus with the Diag and Elbel Field as two locations under consideration. More>

Natural flyers like birds, bats and insects outperform man-made aircraft in aerobatics and efficiency. U-M engineers are studying these animals as a step toward designing flapping-wing planes with wingspans smaller than a deck of playing cards. More>
