What is the USE Lab?
The USE Lab is a community of scholars whose shared goal is to investigate how instructional technologies and digital media are used to innovate teaching, learning, and collaboration. Members of the lab come from several programs at Michigan, including information, education, psychology, survey research, and the professional schools (e.g., medical education). The USE Lab is committed to providing a significant contribution to scholarship about learning at Michigan and in the broader field as well by building an empirical evidentiary base for the design and support of technology rich learning environments. The USE Lab is supported by funding through the University of Michigan Library.
Partnerships
The USE Lab has developed associations with other groups involved in learning technology throughout the Michigan community. Within the Digital Media Commons, the USE Lab works closely with the Collaborative Technologies Lab, UM3D Lab, and Digital Media Tools Lab.
Beyond the Digital Media Commons, the USE Lab works with or is a member of the Teaching & Technology Collaborative (TTC), the Teaching, Learning & Technology (TLT) Program, the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning (CRLT), Merlot, CARAT, and the U-M Library User Experience Department.
Outside of the University of Michigan, the USE Lab has partnered with several other individuals and institutions to further the collective research agenda. Many of these partnerships have been fostered by Michigan's leadership in the Sakai Project, a community-source software suite of learning, portfolio, library, and project tools, and have led to successful projects such as the Sakai Multi-Institutional Survey Initiative (MISI).
