              current Cumulative Data File dataset:  1948-2000

              Unlike the ICPSR archive number (variable VCF0001), the NES
              Dataset number changes when data from the latest NES time-series
              study are integrated with pre-existing Cumulative Data File data
              to produce a new dataset covering an expanded range of years.
