A Listing of All National Election Studies Data Files
This document lists in chronological order the data files that comprise the NES data collection. For each file, we provide the study number by which the data set can be ordered from ICPSR, the number of cases, and any special features of the file (such as multi-form questionnaires, oversamples, and the availability of contextual data or vote validation data). Not every study listed below is present on this CD.

Respondents from the 1982 post-election survey were combined with those taken by telephone in order to compare telephone with face-to-face interview methods.
A sample of 314 respondents from the 1982 Post-Election Study. Telephone interviews were conducted in July; 274 telephone reinterviews in August. The data set also includes the 1982 Post-Election Study variables.

A file containing coversheet, sampling, interviewer, and non-interview information, as well as census data for each sample segment, is available from the NES by special permission of the Board of Overseers. The file was put together for the purpose of examining non-response bias.

Comprises the 1991 Pilot Study and the second wave of a 3-wave 'Gulf War' panel study. (Wave I is the 1990 NES Post-Election Study). 1385 respondents from 1990. An attempt was made to interview every 1990 NES respondent. Computer assisted telephone interviews (3 forms), conducted June 4 - July 31, 1991. The dataset includes 1990 post variables.

1005 TOTAL RESPONDENTS
Comprises the 1993 Pilot Study and the second wave of the 1992-1993 Panel Study on Securing Electoral Success. Wave I is the 1992 NES Pre and Post-Election Study. An attempt was made to interview each of 1005 cross-section respondents to the 1992 post- election study. There were 750 respondents in the second wave of the 1992/1993 Panel, which is also the 1993 Pilot Study. The dataset includes the 1992 Election Study variables for all 1005 cross-section respondents.
