Wolverines split Saturday's Mile High Invitational games Date: March 31, 2012 Site: Boulder, CO Score: Michigan 18, Arizona 5 — Michigan 8, UC Davis 10 Next U-M Event: Sunday April 1, 2012 in Boulder, CO against Santa Clara at 9:30 am MST
BOULDER, CO— The Michigan women's club lacrosse team stole an easy win in the first game on Saturday. They maintained a lead throughout the entire game and saw a handful of Wolverines score multiple goals. The top two scorers against Arizona were freshman Shelby Wagner and senior captain Ani Shekerjian with three a piece. But when they came back against UC Davis in the afternoon, the Wolverines fell short in their comeback attempt. UC Davis scored first and kept a small lead through the half. After falling two goals behind following a string of yellow cards in the first half, Michigan still managed to chase UC Davis in the second half. When Davis broke the 8-8 tie with their 9th goal of the game, senior goalie Emmy Scheidt came out of the goal to give the Wolverines an additional opportunity to get the ball with just minutes left on the clock. UC Davis came back to finish their stall and scored another goal in the closing seconds and and Michigan fell to 1-2 for their weekend's record. Michigan has one more opportunity for a win against Santa Clara tomorrow morning before heading home.
