SANTA BARBARA, CA—The Michigan women's club lacrosse team ended the weekend on a high note with their final win against Colorado State University. After the Rams scored the first two goals, Michigan answered with seven consecutive while Colorado State failed to score again until the second half. Michigan had four players that each scored three goals — senior Ani Shekerjian, junior Rachel Stattler, sophomore Valerie VanHulle and freshman Katie Mezwa. But it wasn't just the attackers that did their part. The Wolverines' defense put constant pressure on Colorado State and kept them at just five goals. Senior goalie Emmy Scheidt was a major factor in saving 69% of the shots taken. Scheidt had a phenomenal weekend with a total of 45 saves in the four games. It turned out to be their best tournament record to date. Michigan headed home from Santa Barbara after a winning weekend, extending their season record to 4-1, to prepare for the upcoming dual against Pittsburgh.
