Michigan wins last scrimmage of the season in a hopeful foreshadow to the Shootout

Date: February 12, 2012

Site: Ann Arbor, MI (Oosterbaan Field House)

Score: Michigan 18, Indiana Tech 8

Next U-M Event: Sunday February 17, 2012 in Santa Barbara, CA against UC Santa Barbara, 6:00 pm PST

ANN ARBOR—The Michigan women's club lacrosse team won in a ten-goal differential in their final spring scrimmage. The Wolverines were satisified with their win coming off of two consecutive losses the day before.

But more important than their wins and losses in unofficial match ups is the preparation for the upcoming Santa Barbara Shootout.

The team outhustled their Warrior opponents and took shot after shot into the Indiana Tech goal.

"We were all pretty tired coming out today after two games yesterday," said senior midfielder Alaina Mezwa. "We really had to step it up and find that energy deep inside."

The Wolverines kept that energy throughout the entire game. The Michigan defense put the pressure on the Warriors and held them to just eight goals.

In less than a week, Michigan will head west and face four tough teams in the Santa Barbara Shootout, including #1 pre-season ranked returning National Champs, Colorado State.
