Ann Arbor, Mich. -- #12 Michigan (2-4, 2-0) defeated John Carroll 18-4 at Oosterbaan Fieldhouse Sunday March 14. The Wolverines controlled the game from the onset, coasting to their second-consecutive victory.

Freshman Sam Zetlin (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) led Michigan's offense, netting a game-high three goals while adding two assists to finish with five points which ties her season high.

Senior tri-captain Arielle Dyner (Livingston, N.J/Livingston), senior Amy Johnson (Washington, D.C./Holton-Arms), junior Jess Stanley (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Marian) and Alaina Mezwa (Rochester Hills, Mich./Sacred Heart) all finished with two goals apiece.

The Wolverines struck first off the stick of Zetlin just 0:30 into the game. Michigan would go on to score the game's first 13 goals before Toledo broke through for a marker at the 3:13 mark.

Zetlin finished the first half with three goals along with one assist and sophomore Maddie Palmer (Birmingham, Mich./Seaholm) tallied three assists before the intermission as Michigan led 14-1.

With the game at hand, Michigan used the second half to practice its motion offense. The Wolverines moved the ball around the perimeter while waiting for cuts to open up for clear shots on goal.

The defense put together its best statistical performance of the season, forcing a season-high five turnovers to go with eight interceptions. The Blue Streaks' six shots on goal were the fewest by an opponent to date.

All three goalies played for the second straight game with sophomore Emmy Scheidt (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Seaholm) getting the start before freshman Hillary Handelsman (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and sophomore Mynda Krato (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) provided relief.

Michigan will be in action next weekend with a game Friday night March 19 at Michigan State. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 PM and fans are encouraged to bring new Michigan or Michigan State clothing to donate to Christ Child in Detroit. Admission is half-off with a donation. The Wolverines return to Oosterbaan Fieldhouse for a doubleheader on Saturday March 20 starting at 11 AM vs. Pittsburgh and then at 3 PM vs. Miami University.
