(Oosterbaan Fieldhouse) Score: Michigan 19, John Carroll 3 ----- Michigan 20, Toledo 0 Record: U-M (3-0, 0-0 WCLA) Next U-M Game: February 16-18 - Orlando, Florida Michigan Dominates En-Route to Two More Wins Ann Arbor, Mich. – The University of Michigan women’s lacrosse team had no trouble with their competition on Sunday, February 11 in Ann Arbor at Oosterbaan Fieldhouse, defeating John Carroll by a score of 19-3 in their opening game of the night before taking care of Toledo, 20-0 in the evening's final match. Against John Carroll, the Wolverines jumped out to a 10-2 lead at the end of the first half, and cruised down the stretch with a spread scoring effort that saw seven different Wolverines score goals. Freshman goaltender Liz Mennen (N.Y., N.Y./Morris Hills) saw her first real action of the season, stopping three, point-blank shots in the first half. Senior captain Noelle Frazier (Richmond Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) led all scorers with three goals and three assists. Junior Ashley Steitz (Grosse Pointe, Michigan/University) added four goals and one assist. Sophomore Rachel Lary (San Diego, CA./Torrey Pines) scooped up a team high four groundballs. In their second game, Michigan came out firing on all cylinders, jumping out to an early 12-0 lead that once again saw U-M spread the scoring as seven different Wolverines scored in the first half. The Wolverines kept the pedal down in the second half, extending the lead on the efforts of freshman Julie Kane (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) who added three goals in the frame. Lary was the main catalyst on the night, notching four goals while nine Wolverines added multi-goal games in the winning cause. Sophomore Alexis Pavle (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) earned the Wolverines' four draw controls, while freshman Maggie Preketes (Flint, Mich./Flint Powers) earned six groundballs for the game-high. Mennen was solid again in goal, stopping two shots in the shut-out win. The Wolverines will travel to Orlando, Florida next week to take on a number of opponents over the course of two days.
