Wolverines Silence Lion's Roar


Ann Arbor, Michigan The University of Michigan women's lacrosse team grabbed their second win of the weekend on Friday (March 9), defeating the Lindenwood Lions by a score of 12-5 in Ann Arbor, Michigan at Oosterbaan Fieldhouse.

Michigan took a 7-3 lead into the half-time break behind two goals a piece from Alexis Pavle and Amy Johnson, including a tally from Johnson with just :30 left in the half to help build Wolverine momentum headed into the break.  U-M continued their solid play in the second half, opening with four unanswered goals to pull away, including another from Johnson.   

The Wolverines were paced by Johnson and her four goals while Micaela Battiste added three assists.  Battiste also led the team with four groundballs.  Freshman goaltender Liz Mennen continued her solid play, stopping seven Lindenwood shots in the contest.   

The Maize and Blue will be back in action tomorrow, taking on #23 Rhode Island at 2:30pm in the second game of the day, before battling Air Force at 5:30pm.
