Head Coach - Jen Dunbar (1st Season)
Jen Dunbar enters her first season as Head
Coach for the Michigan women's lacrosse
team. Dunbar comes to Michigan with
big shoes to fill after the departure of
Mary Ann Meltzer, but the first-year coach
has the coaching ability and experience to
put her stamp on the program in little time.
Previously, Dunbar was the Head Coach of
the JV squad at Grosse Pointe South, before
taking on the head job as the Varsity coach
at Birmingham where she finished 20-5 last
season along with a State Championship.
Dunbar is also credited with the formation
of the Detroit Lacrosse Club, a travel
lacrosse team for middle school through
college-aged players.
Dunbar's other coaching experience comes
at the youth and high school level in
soccer, basketball, and tennis. Dunbar
was a three-sport athlete (soccer, lacrosse,
basketball) at Ohio Wesleyan University
where she earned her B.A. in
Physical Education and Health. Having
also obtained her teaching certificate,
Dunbar earned a medical degree in Exercise
Physiology from Wayne State in 2001.
Dunbar resides in Royal Oak, Michigan.
