2002 Recaps

Playoffs Recap.

The Lady Wolverines had an intense start to playoffs in a close game against Buffalo University. With only 2 minutes left Michigan was down by 2 goals; however, great hustle and teamwork brought the game into sudden-death overtime, where the Wolverines won. The intensity from the first game carried over to the next game against Washington University of St. Louis. Michigan dominated the game. In the championship game University of Michigan faced longtime rival Michigan State and came out the league champions. Both University of Michigan and Michigan State will be traveling to St. Louis for the Nationals tournament May 8-12.

Toledo University Play Day Recap.

University of Michigan came out strong at the Toledo Play Day. The Lady Wolverines played hard, smart, and loud, and finished the weekend with 3 league wins over Albion University, Michigan State University, Miami of Ohio University, and Toledo University. The ladies really showed what they were made of as they turned up their level of play to defeat rival school Michigan State. Their wins this weekend secured Michigan a spot in playoffs and probably a number one seed.

Oakland University Play Day Recap.

Michigan offense dominated at the Oakland University Play Day. The Lady Wolverines brought home three division victories over Western Michigan University, Calvin College, and Hope College. The ladies learned a lot this weekend and stepped up their level of play.

Annapolis Weekend Recap.

The weekend of March 22 the Lady Wolverines traveled to Annapolis, Maryland to play 3 non-division games against The United States Naval Academy, Georgetown University, and Loyola University. After losing to the Naval Academy 19-1, the Wolverines improved their play against Georgetown with an amazing half-time score of 2-2. However, they fell just short of a victory, losing 7-4. Even with the two loses, the weekend was a success for the Lady Wolverines. They came together as one to beat Loyola 13-8.

Fall Ball Recap.

This past fall the Lady Wolverines hosted their annual Fall Ball Tournament. Competing teams included Albion University, Calvin College, Toledo University, and Michigan State University. An overwhelming number of players forced the Wolverines to divide into two teams. Both teams finished the day undefeated, taking home first and second place titles.
