About Us
Over 1.5 billion people around the world have no access to electricity; the majority of which (99.8%) live in developing countries. Most of these people live in rural areas where, due to geographical and economical constraints, it is very difficult to supply them with electricity. Thus, there are many opportunities where an energy source could be implemented.
Woven Wind proposes to utilize the present skills within these communities to help remedy this problem. We are co-designing a wind turbine system with the blades made of woven textile material. We are currently in the process of implementing a pilot program in the village of Nueva Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan. Through close collaboration with stakeholders, our mission is to bring reliable, clean, and inexpensive electricity to the developing world.
